Time for Wordy Wednesday

Hi and welcome to our weekly look at quotes and sayings. Following on from Claire’s smashing Mojo Monday article, I thought I would take a look at the weather, especially winter and snow!

Brrrr!!!!!!!

Where does the white go when the snow melts? ~Hugh Kieffer

A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together! ~Author Unknown

When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels. ~Author Unknown

There's one good thing about snow, it makes your lawn look as nice as your neighbour's. ~Clyde Moore

There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. ~Alfred Wainwright

The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found? ~J.B. Priestley

When snow falls, nature listens. ~Antoinette van Kleeff

The trouble with weather forecasting is that it's right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it. ~Patrick Young

A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water. ~Carl Reiner

O, wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
~Percy Bysshe Shelley

In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy. ~William Blake

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home. ~Edith Sitwell

One kind word can warm three winter months. ~Japanese Proverb

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. ~John Ruskin

Hope they don't make you feel too chilly?

Thank you for joining us again this week and I hope you find some inspiration and something to ponder amongst the quotes I've chosen.

SO....what's new this week?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now let's take at this week's fabulous creations from the DT and 2 of our GUEST DESIGNERS for the month.
Did you light your Advent Candle on Sunday!?!  Are you all ready for Thursday with your Advent Calendars?!?!  Are you organised?!?!  I hope that if you're making all your cards and gifts this year that people appreciate the time that you've taken.  It's so wonderful to receive an item that has been lovingly made but sadly sometimes not everyone feels the same way about it.
SO......onto our Challenge winners.  It never ceases to amaze me how many wonderful creations are submitted to our challenges....the talent in Blogland is quite amazing.  I hope that you enjoy our little challenges and that you are inspired when you see what beautiful things other people make too.
For my card I have used Pergamano paper and traced TeddyBea_172 with white pen, I have then used my embossing tool to emboss sections. I then punched out lots of snowflakes in different white papers and added just a few silver ones too. Inside the card I have added a foam snowflake with the following poem on it - Snow is falling to the ground, A crystal chill is all around, Frosty clouds are in the air with snowflakes drifting everywhere.
I love the simplicity of the card but found it a real challenge to use only white!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Following the lovely Jill's tut, I made a book card for this challenge.

FairyD Santa
Prisma pencils - French Grey
Martha Stewart edge punch
Festive greenery strip die (Tim Holtz)
Asst. Sizzix and Marianne design dies
Spellbinder Holiday tags die
Inkwell stamp
Vintage Shabby papers (Tim Holtz)
SeeD sentiment
Pumice stone distress ink
Like Claire I found it hard to keep to a total white theme but I tried to keep all the embellies white. Hope that counts!

AJ (Guest Designer)

"Hi everyone I'm Aj. I live on the most remote inhabited place in the UK.. The tiny island of Fair Isle up in the Shetland islands, with the other half, our 2 youngest girls, some cows, lots of sheep, 2 shetland ponies, an Icelandic horse, 3 cats, 2 dogs and a puckle hens.

I have the envious position of crafts being my work so spend my days immersed in making various inky and sticky messes while cosied up in my studio surrounded by lots of papers, ribbons and all other crafty ingrediants.

I love playing with Teddy Bo & Bea, for me these loveable bears are my downtime, I pull out the pencils and blending sticks and gone are the stresses of life, forgotton are the Force 11 gales currently battling with the remainder of my vegetable patch, its just me.. the bears.. some good fiddle music... hot chocolate (its not me its Bea !! she has to have marshmellows in it too.. piggy bear..)"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've used white TEDDYBEA_003 and layered her onto embossed core'dinations and silver mirri card. I liked it so much I changed the embossing folders and made several more using the different coloured images and card to layer them onto
Kelly (Guest Designer)
My card is coloured using Copics.  I decided to go for the white theme, using the bear as the colour.  The white background card is Kanban embossed snowflake card.  The snowflake is a wooden embellishment glittered and dotted with white pearl paint.  The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons.  The sentiment is computer generated.
"My name is Kelly, i am 29 and a married mum to 3. I started cardmaking about 18 months ago, some say it is a hobby, i say it is a passion! I love to colour and use Promarkers, Spectrum Noirs, Copics and pencils. I can sit for hours colouring!! My favourite style of card is cute and girly although i do like to try different techniques. If you would like to follow me please do so here at http://kelsmakes.blogspot.com/ I look forward to visiting some wonderful new blogs."
Mojo Monday - Snow
Its that time of the week again for a little inspiration.
This week I have chosen Snow because with the lead up to Christmas I hope we might get some - I am a BIG kid and love nothing more than going out and playing in it!!!
Wikipedia
Snow is a form of precipitation within the Earth's atmosphere in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of a multitude of snowflakes that fall from clouds. Since snow is composed of small ice particles, it is a granular material. It has an open and therefore soft structure, unless packed by external pressure. Snowflakes come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Types which fall in the form of a ball due to melting and refreezing, rather than a flake, are known as graupel, ice pellets or snow grains. Snowfall amount and its related liquid equivalent precipitation amount are determined using a variety of different rain gauges
Snow Quotes
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.  ~John Ruskin
Snowflakes are kisses from heaven.  ~Author Unknown
Sunday Spotlight
Hello my lovely Teddy Bo friends
It´s time for another Sunday Spotlight *Yeaaah*. Today we showcase the adorable creations of Sally
That is what Sally tell us about herself and her creativity
I started making cards about 6 years ago after a friend bought me a card making kit which included a book Quick and Easy cards by Julie Hickey. I thought I would give it a go and maybe buy a few bits and bobs and see how I got on.......well I think I am an addict now like many of you reading this and could probably set up a small shop with the amount of stuff that I have accumulated. I find crafting so relaxing and spend as much of my spare time as possible in my craft room.
I started a blog a couple of years ago and this opened up a whole new world including challenge blogs, Design Teams and some great friends. I never thought I would get into stamping as I didn't see the point of spending all that time colouring in an image! Quite laughable now as if I haven't coloured in the image on the card I feel like I have cheated. I got hooked when I saw someone demonstrating how to colour with Copics at the NEC Hobbycrafts show and it looked so effective and relatively quick. So I started with a few Copics and then invested in a few more. I have since added some Promarkers to the collection. Earlier this year i bought some Polychromos and Prisma pencils to see if I could get the hang of colouring with pencils. I still have a lot to learn and each time I colour an image I try some thing different but I love the softness that you can get from the pencils especially when they are blended.
One of my favourite characters to colour is the adorable Teddy Bo and Teddy Bea.
On this gorgeous card Sally used
TeddyBea_011 *Sweet little angel* ...
... for this adorable card she used
TeddyBoBea_007 *First kiss, no longer a miss* ...
... on this wonderful card Sally used
TeddyBo Bea_Tabs_001 *Three in a row* ...
 ... and for this fantastic card she used
TeddyBoBea_035 *Little ´ickle elefunt*
More of the gorgeous work of Sally you can admire on her blog
Many thanks to you Sally for letting us showcase your lovely creations. It was a great pleasure for us!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a beary creative week ;0)
Teddy Bo Top Tips Thursday
Today we have another treat for you and our teacher this week is the wonderful Nicole.
We're going to be paper piecing with digi stamps.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What do you need???

  You need an image which you print out once for coloring with your favorite medium and once on the design paper of your choice. Please make sure that they are both the same size or it won't work at all well ;c)
I've used TEDDYBEA_162 here

  Here you can see I have coloured everything on the image with Prismas apart from the dress which is what I am going to paper piece.

  The next picture show you that I´ve cut out the dress exactly on all the lines. Now rub the back with glue and stick it on matching it exactly to Beas white bits.

  On my last picture you can see the completely finished image. I think that Bea looks very sweet in her dress.  What do you think?

I hope it will be helpful ;0)

Hugs Nicole

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that's quite a straightforward one for you all to join in with and we here at the Towers know that Bo is rather partial to a flowery sweater lol!
As always if you use our tutorial this week and link up your project using one of the bears or their friends you will receive a new little friend for free.
How about Bea in a nice pink snowflake patterned dress? Then you can enter our current challenge of Christmas with no red or green which runs until Sunday.
Have a fantastic week
Hugs
It's time for some more quotes and sayings folks.
It’s getting closer and closer so I thought it was time to look at some quotations and sayings about the festive season – Christmas here we come!
There has been only one Christmas - the rest are anniversaries. ~W.J. Cameron
Christmas is a necessity. There has to be at least one day of the year to remind us that we're here for something else besides ourselves. ~Eric Sevareid
May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through! ~Author Unknown
I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. ~Charles Dickens
At Christmas, all roads lead home. ~Marjorie Holmes
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love! ~Hamilton Wright Mabie
Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself...
~Norman Wesley Brooks, "Let Every Day Be Christmas," 1976
Christmas is the day that holds all time together. ~Alexander Smith
Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts. ~Janice Maeditere
As long as we know in our hearts what Christmas ought to be, Christmas is. ~Eric Sevareid
May the spirit of Christmas bring you peace,
The gladness of Christmas give you hope,
The warmth of Christmas grant you love.
~Author Unknown
It is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas when its mighty Founder was a child Himself. ~Charles Dickens
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, - not even a mouse:
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there....
~Clement Clarke Moore
Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love Divine;
Love was born at Christmas;
Star and angels gave the sign.
~Christina Rossetti
It was difficult to stick to just a few quotes, I could have filled a book and I'm sure there are many more you could add to my list. :)
Thank you for joining us today at Wordy Wednesday. Don't forget there's a new tutorial tomorrow - time to have a go with your favourite Teddybo image and receive a Teddybo image of your choice just for entering!
